How the First Marathon Went
The Clean Baikal International Marathon is a unique sporting event on the shores of the great lake. It brings together runners from different countries in the name of movement, strength, and a shared environmental mission.
The first marathon was held in an atmosphere of genuine enthusiasm—without massive advertising, but with a strong belief in the idea.
Early in the morning, participants gathered at the start line by the coast, where Lake Baikal greeted them with a cool breeze and its crystal-clear waters.
Runners covered the distance along scenic routes, supporting one another at every kilometer.
After finishing, many joined a beach cleanup effort, reinforcing the event's core purpose.
That is how the marathon became more than just a race—it grew into a movement to preserve the purity of Lake Baikal.
Today, it continues to grow, bringing together sport, nature, and people from all over the world.
